Les Affaires Plus - Dividend paying stocks or bonds?
In its Winter 2018 edition, the Les Affaires Plus magazine published an article (in French only) entitled "Actions à dividendes ou obligations?" on page 30. This article by Ian Gascon, president of Idema Investments, explains why it is not always a good idea to replace a bond portfolio by dividend paying stocks. It also highlights the fact that past returns of dividend paying stocks benefited for decades of falling interest rates. A condition that might not continue in the future.
